What does Fan Foodology mean? Well, I started thinking about a site devoted to food to eat while you watch sporting events either at home, tailgating, or at cookouts. Most sites have these types of recipes scattered through their many posts and really kick into full gear around the time of the “Big Game” also known as the Superbowl. So this site was conceptualized with this in mind. I also watch games while I cook and doing this has led to many botched attempts at following a recipe or keeping track of things on the stove or in the oven. However, Fan Foodology does not only extend to just sports-centric foods but food for watching your favorite or your finance’s latest binge of television shows or movies. The realization also hit me that we don’t ever eat at our dining room table but I sit on the couch and my finance sits on the floor both of us watching the television mounted on the wall. I think there are more people out in the world that do this similar style of dining. Needless to say, these are the recipes I have created for tailgates, potlucks, fantasy football drafts, Superbowl parties and for viewing Top Chef, The Great British Bake Off, Dexter and even for streaming all the song filled seasons of Glee your fiance just needs to binge watch. Overall, think of the site like this. If Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives (you know the show) had a child with a sports bar, tailgate, barbecue, potluck, a food truck, and a food stand in Asia, it would be this site.
Two overarching themes on this site thus far: cheese and recipes.
1.Being from the diary state and I don’t mean California but the publicly recognized dairy state ingrained on quarters exchanged with our seal etched with a cow and some cheese literally solidifying our national identity, I am going to live up to the currency and stereotypes and present a lot of recipes with cheese. I also try to use as much local products, produce, and proteins from the Madison area.
2. This site is all about recipes. I am not a food critic, restaurant reviewer, or product/equipment tester. So this site does not include critiques or articles about anything other than the recipes I have made, tasted, shared, researched, developed and then made, tasted, shared, researched, developed and…..simply, I like eating, thinking about, and creating food.
